A fluffy rom com watchlist β₯
I have a lot of dramas to watch… there are just so so many! I also have a problem that I take forever to watch them π
As it’s February 14th, Valentine’s Day, what better time to make a Rom-Com watchlist! I went onto Viki and looked at the all time most popular Romantic Comedy from Korea and it will be a fun idea to watch one a month (as well as keeping up my Idol Actor Challenge). If it goes well, I’ll keep it up for next year as well β₯
What I’m Going To Watch:
The Heirs
- 20 episodes; SBS 2013
… This is the most popular Rom-Com of all time?… I get that it’s got a flashy cast, but wow.
Heirs follows the intertwining lives of several rich teens who are burdened by their future responsibility. Meanwhile, Cha Eun Sang (Park Shin Hye) is forced into their world due to a job to keep her and her family afloat.
It doesn’t sound exactly compelling and will probably be super cliche, but it must be well liked for more of a reason than Lee Min Ho’s face π
Strong Woman Do Bong Soon
- 16 episodes; JTBC 2017
Bong Soon (Park Bo Young) is gifted Herculean strength through her mother’s bloodline, but it must only be used for good. She is hired as a bodyguard for a young CEO and is best friends with a detective. With both these relationships, Bong Soon hopes to help each to find the criminals they’re after.
I’ve seen a lot of people talk about, even one of my best friends Mark really likes it. I’m excited for this one. I feel like it’s going to be super cute, I mean Bo Young is adorable. And it has some swoon worthy male interests – Park Hyung Shik and Ji Soo~
My Love From The Star
- 21 episodes; SBS 2013/14
This is an old one and one I’ve been meaning to watch since forever!
An alien has been stranded on Earth for 400 years, which means he doesn’t have the greatest opinion of humans. However, through a relationship with a former actress, his feelings start to change.
It stars Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun. I’ve seen so many compilations of Jun Ji Hyun’s ridiculous lines and acting and I’m super excited to finally watch this β₯
Descendants of the Sun
- 16 episodes; KBS2 2016
I don’t like this idea anymore… I have no interest in this drama. The only reason I would is to watch Lee Jinki, but I’ve already seen all his scenes ππ #shawol
A Special Forces unit leader and a trauma surgeon are reunited in a fictional war torn country. During this long term mission to help the UN old feelings will rekindle.
What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim
- 16 episodes; tvN 2018
A drama with Park Seo Joon β₯.β₯ and Park Min Young – aka the woman who oozes chemistry with everyone!! – SIGN ME UP!!
The secretary of a spoilt, narcissistic CEO has enough and quits, only for the CEO to realise how much he needs her.
Pinocchio
- 20 episodes; SBS 2014/15
Another Park Shin Hye drama! I first saw her in Goong, so it will be lovely see her act again (I’m currently watching Gogh, the Starry Night and squealed when she had a cameo!). And who doesn’t love Lee Jong Suk?
I don’t know much about this… and by that I mean nothing apart from Jong Suk’s terrible hair in the flashbacks π
This drama follows the lives of two local journalists who strive to find the truth. Choi In Na (Park Shin Hye) has Pinocchio Syndrome whereby she hiccups whenever she lies. I can imagine all the cute mishaps this can cause already!
Suspicious Partner
- 40 episodes; SBS 2017
Ji Chang Wook? I’m in. I don’t need to know anything else! haha π
A prosecutor turned private attorney works together with a trainee prosecutor (Nam Ji Hyun) who finds herself as a suspect in a murder case.
The more I look into this, the more I want to watch it now!!
I Am Not A Robot
- 16 episodes; MBC 2017/18
Yoo Seung Ho plays a man who has an allergy to people. He is sent a robot to test, but for some reason the girl (Chae Soo Bin) it is based on must pretend to be a robot, and he starts to fall for her.
This sounds like it could be quite adorable, but could also be rather painful. I am very intrigued though.
Healer
- 20 episodes; KBS2Β 2014/15
Another drama I’ve been meaning to watch FOR YEARS!! I own the series! How have I not watched it yet?!
It stars Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young… This is stellar casting!!
Ji Chang Wook’s character is a vigilante type character trying to uncover the truth about an incident in 1992. He must find and protect a reporter (Park Min Young) for a second rate website as she is wanted dead and ends up falling in love with her.
I don’t this is a great summary, but hopefully, we both get the gist π
While You Were Sleeping
- 16 episodes; SBS 2017
Another Lee Jong Suk!! I’m being spoilt~
This also stars Miss A’s Suzy, whose character can see into the future. She meets two others and they end up getting the same ability. Together they strive to stop these premonitions from becoming reality.
A reporter, a prosecutor and a detective duo! This sounds great! Why did I never look into what this was about? haha
Oh My Venus
- 16 episodes; KBS2 2015
… I have nightmares about the “fat” suit…
Shin Min A and So Ji Sub is such a great pairing, they’re both great actors! However, the reason I haven’t watched this is because it’s all about getting thin and fitness. I feel like Shin Min A’s character won’t be beautiful or desirable until she’s thin…
Hopefully, it isn’t so heavy on the fat shaming…
The Legend of the Blue Sea
- 20 episodes; SBS 2016/17
More familiar faces! Jun Ji Hyun is a mermaid from the Joseon era who finds herself in modern day Seoul after following her true love. She finds his doppleganger in Lee Min Ho, and with nowhere to go he has to take her in.
I’m intrigued, mainly just for the two leads and how they will work together. This isn’t a pairing I would have imagined.
Which do you think I should start with?
Thanks for reading! I hope you’re having a lovely day~
Well Hayleigh, I hope you enjoy because they are all fabulous shows (except for Strong Woman Do Bong Soon – I just didnβt enjoy it).
So start with My Love From A Star, or at least watch it next. It is wonderful with many magical moments as is Legend of the Deep Blur Sea. By the way, both shows are by the same writer, who also has given us Crash Landing On You (which is truly delightful).
Descendants of the Sun is a great show, in my view on a par with Healer. Then there is WIWWSK – there are some from very steamy moments – lol. While You Were Sleeping is a personal favourite (Suzy is very good on this one) and Oh My Venus with Shin Min Ah is pretty hard to beat. As an aside, Shin Min Ah has changed direction with her recent performances in Chief of Staff 1 and 2 – a very serious role as a politician in this one and she is superb.
I Am Not a Robot is another delightful show, the whole premise is so well done. Suspicious Partner is truly different, and I think you will like it.
Overall, you have picked some of the best kdramas ever made. I am 100% positive you are going to enjoy every watching moment π
