Reads and Watches

The last few months have not been great and I’ve got into a huge slump, which I really need to shift.

I’m a mood orientated person and that’s not helping the situation (nor is this heatwave tbh), so I thought it might be good to have a bit more structure and plan out what I want to achieve – blog/hobby wise – in the month of July.

First off, I’m committing to the posts that will be uploaded in July:

  • 06.07.26: Teach You a Lesson || K-Drama Review
  • 13.07.26: National Theatre at Home || A-Z Challenge No.1
  • 20.07.26: Buzzword Cover Catch-Up
  • 27.07.26: July Wrap-Up + Plans for August

I’ll also be working on some cross-stitches, but they’re Christmas presents, so I don’t want to accidentally ruin the surprise in case my family randomly decide to read my blog.

Lord of the Reads || July TBR

Lord of the Reads is a stunning TBR game which was created by Silvia at Library Unbounded on YouTube. There are 100 prompt cards to play for and I think it will be a fun way to get motivated! In the rules, a book is also chosen once our companion reached the library, but I don’t think that adding something extra is a reward, so I’m not doing that.

My companion for this game was Legolas!

All titles are linked to StoryGraph if you want to read their synopsis.

Roll 1: Read a Buddy Read

Behind Five Willows; June Hur

I’ve given June Hur a 5⭐ and a 2.5⭐, so we’re a bit hit and miss so far, but I am so excited for this one. Behind Five Willows has been advertised as being Pride and Prejudice inspired and is, like all of Hur’s works, set in the Korean Joseon Era. I got this book as soon as it came out and I’m looking forward to diving in!

Roll 2: Dead Marshes Tile

The Ministry of Time; Kaliane Bradley

The Dead Marshes tiles mean you go back to the previous dead marshes tile and then use a tbr jar to pick your read.

There was a lot of buzz around The Ministry of Time and while I’m not super excited about the sci-fi aspects, I’ve heard a lot about the romance and, with the time travel aspect, is intriguing.

Roll 3: Read a Book From a Trilogy

The Ornithologist’s Field Guide to Love; India Holton

I put off picking up this book until the whole trilogy was published because I want to just fly through this! Holton’s previous works were so fun and I’m absolutely sure the Love’s Academic trilogy will be the same! This first book in the trilogy is rivals to lovers, with magical bird hunting escapades… what more could you want?

Roll 4: Read a Book with Multiple POV’s

Falling Kingdoms; Morgan Rhodes

Falling Kingdoms has been on my tbr for so long. It was super popular on BookTube and because I’m late to the party with all trends I’m now going to read this book from 2012. The synopsis says this book has ‘royals and rebels’, and that there are ‘treacherous betrayals, shocking murders, secret alliances, and even unforeseen love’ and that sounds like something I would love!

TV Series

I am in a YouTube bodycam hole and I need to get out! It’s ridiculous how many I have watched this month. I need to actually utilise all the streaming services that I pay for!

I’m hoping to finally delve into the world of ‘Yellowstone’. I’m not big on Westerns/cowboys (historical or modern day ones), but this looks so good. I’ve seen so many clips that I just need to watch at least one episode to see if it’s something that I can get on board with!

I’ve been putting off ‘The Other Bennet Sister’ because I know there’s a death and I don’t know if I can handle that, but perhaps it will be cathartic and the romance will heal me after. I’ve seen so many clips of Dónal Finn playing such a sweet leading man and I need to just get my act together and watch this.

The two K-Dramas I want to watch in July are ‘My Royal Nemesis’ and ‘Oh My Ghost Clients’. I have already watched the first episode of ‘My Royal Nemesis’ and it was so fun! Lim Ji Yeon is fantastic so far and I’m really looking forward to watching the rest.

With ‘Oh My Ghost Clients’, I know nothing about this. I just saw that it popped up on Viki and I was intrigued. It also stars Cha Hak Yeon and it makes me happy seeing my fave 2nd and 3rd gen idols on my screen, so I’m going to give this a go.
