2025 Bingo Boards || 2nd Quarterly Wrap Up

🌸📖🎬☀️

It’s already July, don’t talk to me.

I’m still ahead on my reading, and my watching is hit or miss each month still. I’ve started a little Film Club for myself, so I’m hoping that will ignite the Watching Bingo board!

For more information about my bingo boards and goals for 2025, check out my A New Year Means New Plans blog post ♥

I’ve decided to get rid of the reward element as it wasn’t actually an incentive. Plus, going through this post, the reward amounts were too high in comparison to the saving ones. And, to be honest, I’m an adult who just buys things they want anyway lol

READS

I accidentally put some of the April reads into my first quarterly check-in which is why several books in the month are greyed out.

Since my last check-in, I’ve read a further 20 books. There have certainly been many lows, but I’ve had a good time with some re-reads and my average rating is still quite high – 3.51⭐

Now that we’re halfway through, I do think that the two spots – ‘Backlist pre ’22’ and ’52 Book Club Prompt – are far too easy and I will be swapping those out. Head to the end of the post to see the new board. Depending on the next quarter, the ‘Buzzword’ prompt may also be switched up.

I’m happy with the progress on the non-fiction and re-read square and I’m currently working on a “I’m feeling…” post, so those numbers will look healthier in the next wrap-up. I also have plans to get some Skulduggery Pleasant books read, so I’m hopeful there will be some movement there 🤞

WATCHES

In this quarter, I watched 19 things and there’s a little bit more diversity, but not a lot. And the fact that the ‘K-Drama’ square is still blank… that hurts. I don’t know why I genuinely thought I’d watched something 🤡

There are a couple of dramas that I’m excited to watch, so if that is still blank in 3-month’s time, I’m going to cry. I also really need to work on the Letterboxd YinR square, especially as I thought it was such a good square idea!

Oh and I got lucky with that birth year square because I had no idea that The Princess Bride came out the same year my sister was born!! 💖

Also, do not judge me for watching Dinnerladies in both May and June… I’m depressed and I need my comfort watch to get me through it!

Favourite Book: The Paper Magician; Charlie N. Holmberg – This was a re-read and I loved being back with these characters. The plot is charming, fast-paced and really fun. It gave me a lot of warm feelings and was just what I needed!

Favourite Watch: High Potential – I decided to watch this on a whim and I’m so happy that I did!! It was such a fun time and the characters are all so loveable. The cases were interesting and I’m definitely intrigued about the overarching mystery. I need series 2 right now! 💖

Most Interesting Book: Badgerlands; Patrick Barkham – I’ve never seen a live badger, but they are so cute and this book made me love them! Barkham shares our history with Badgers in England and how it has transformed over the centuries. The inclusion of his badger watching escapades were often lovely and amusing. Justice for Badgers!

Most Interesting Watch: Not going to lie, the documentaries I watched this quarter weren’t the best and weren’t all that interesting. Or, I guess more accurately the subject matter was interesting, but the execution was lacking or not expanded on well/enough.

Most Disappointing Book: Copper Script; K.J. Charles – I am devastated that I did not love this. I read Copper Script as soon I bought it because the concept sounded so cool and I was hoping that it would have the same vibe as her Will Darling Adventures trilogy. However, most of the action was off page… So much of this book felt like pointless conversations and meandering plot. I signed up for a murder mystery and got to read barely any of the solving. The characters felt a little flat and there was hardly any personal growth. Unfortunately, the romance (which was front and centre) wasn’t all that compelling either.

Most Disappointing Watch: Adolescence – Everyone in my office was hyping this up when it came out earlier this year. So much so that I started it in March when it was released. And I was so bored that it took me about 2 months to finally force myself to watch the two episodes I had left and it’s only 4 episodes long. The way it was made is amazing and kudos to the actors, the crew and everyone who worked on Adolescence, but the hype was not deserved regarding the actual plot.

Updated Reading Bingo Board

As I mentioned in the reading section of this post, I’m going to be changing out two squares.

For the ‘Backlist (pre ’22)‘ square, I’ve gone even further back! We’re time travelling all the way back to 2015 and earlier to read a lot of the older tbr veterans on my shelves.

For the ’52 book club’ square, I decided to use a random number generator to choose one of the challenge prompts to replace it. This means we have another release date prompt, but it will be good to keep up with a few new releases this year (2025) as I do have some pre-orders I’m excited about.

Thanks for reading and I hope your goals are being achieved!

I hope you’re having a lovely day and staying safe ❤️
