This week was so much better than the last! I actually finished some books haha~

Again, my life isn’t so interesting… and to be honest it hasn’t changed since before the pandemic. If you’re enjoying these posts, I would like to say a big thank you โ™ฅ

This is the board for this week and how I did:

Monday 5th

page count: 241

On my commute I managed to read a little of Hollow Earth by John & Carole E. Barrowman and eventually finished it during my lunch break at work (252-326). Overall, it was a good book. The concept and story were fun and engaging. Plus the characters were great. I’m thinking of carrying on with the trilogy, but not sure (I have so many other books on my owned tbr ๐Ÿ˜…).

During work, I also read 2 stories from Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy (1-133) by Cassandra Clare and her friends. And started Arsenic for Tea (1-36) by Robin Stevens.

When I got home, I walked Darcy, then had Yakisoba for tea while I watched YouTube. I then fell down a Starkid compilation hole, which happens way too often – they’re such talented and funny people! Then it was bed time~

Tuesday 6th

page count: 113

Tuesday was another work day and my favourite people there were working which was great! I only did a little bit of reading – The Pink Line (135-178) by Mark Gevisser; Arsenic for Tea (36-48) and Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy (133-191). I can’t believe I had to actually work for my wage – rude ๐Ÿ˜‚

We ended up watching 2 films and they were both great. I hadn’t seen Luca yet, but it was actually super cute and uplifting. And I got slapped in the face with nostalgia with High School Musical 2!

I walked Darcy when I got home and then settled in for the Italy vs. Spain match.

side note: how do I get Darcy to like taking pictures?! and how am I the same colour as the wall?! I’m so white ๐Ÿ˜‚

Wednesday 7th

page count: 4

Wow, Wednesday was an abysmal reading day!

In the morning, I took Darcy to the vets for his yearly jabs and I didn’t realise how far away it was. Darcy and I were shattered when we got home ๐Ÿ˜‚

I did some chores throughout the day and watched a lot of YouTube… I did end up finishing and posting the 3rd weekly reading challenge (if you haven’t read it, you can check it out here). Around tea time, I got overwhelmed not knowing what drama to watch from my way too long currently watching list, so I watched a couple of episodes of Black Books. I love that idiot Irish drunk so much ๐Ÿ˜‚

I then watched the football. I may be English, but Denmark deserved to win that game. They were the better team and we did not deserve that penalty at all! I think we’ll lose on Sunday, but I saw a statistic that when England lose a match domestic violence levels rise (here’s an article for more information) which is awful.

Before bed I read a little of Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy (191-195), but I was just way too tired to read anything substantial… hence the 4 pages ๐Ÿ˜…

Thursday 8th

page count: 149

In the morning, I worked on my blog and posted my Mid Year Drama Check In wherein I repurposed the book tag ‘Mid Year Book Freak Out’ for dramas. I’m actually really happy with how it turned out and I’m definitely going to be doing it next year โ™ฅ

I took Darcy for a walk and listened to the audiobook for Arsenic for Tea (48-109). I then watered the plants for my dad and our strawberries are turning red! I’m so excited! After a productive morning and early afternoon I played Pop Town on my phone and watched YouTube for way too long…

However, I got back on the reading horse after tea and read It Takes Two (1-89) by Meg Cabot, which is the sequel to the Princess Diaries and the shortest book on my tbr. I did this while watching one of How To Train Your Gavin’s sprints.

Then it was bed time~

Friday 9th

page count: 211

In the morning, I watched more of Gavin’s sprint and again picked up It Takes Two (89-141). During Darcy’s walk, I listened to Arsenic for Tea (109-172). And once again, I then watched YouTube for a few hours…

At 3pm, I forced myself up off the sofa and did some chores and then went back to watching Youtube… ๐Ÿ˜…

In the evening, I went watched some more of Gavin’s reading sprints and finished It Takes Two (141-213). I definitely enjoyed this one way more! Mia is still a drama queen, but the plot was more engaging and funny. Mr G is still the true MVP โ™ฅ

Before bed, I read a little of Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy (195-219). I’m happy to find out more about James Herondale, but I kind of want to spend more time with Simon.

Saturday 10th

page count: 326

On Friday night, I told myself I would go to the supermarket (the big ones about 20mins away by bus) and I woke up to pouring rain… But, my child needed food and that’s the only place I can get it from. We don’t give brollies enough credit!

At the bus stop I read a couple of pages of Arsenic for Tea (172-178). I planned to read on the bus, but it was too loud and only one ear works on my headphones now (I got some new ones from Tesco~).

Back home in the warmth, I did some chores and had lunch. Darcy and I then braved the elements for our walk, on which I listened to Arsenic for tea (183-245). I really like Hazel, she’s definitely more proactive and vocal in this sequel. I then finally finished the short story ‘Nothing But Shadows’ in Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy (219-261).

For tea, I ordered some Domino’s. I’ve wanted to try the vegan pizza with the soya pieces and I would just like to say that real vegans truly have a case to sue… it was bad! Thankfully, the deal meant I also got a Vegi Supreme โ™ฅ

After eating, I watched a sprint and started Bleach 3-in-1 Vol.8 (1-215) by Tite Kubo and had a Malteser hot chocolate, which I highly recommend! Delicious!

Sunday 11th

page count: 467

I take so long writing posts… I worked on the one you are currently reading for 4hrs this morning (and it obviously wasn’t even the complete version) ๐Ÿ˜… What is time?

So yeah, that was my morning. I then walked Darcy and finished the audiobook for Arsenic for Tea (245-330). Character wise, this was so much better. Hazel is more present and proactive, and Daisy is less insufferable. There is also a stronger sense of friendship between the two girls. I’m definitely looking forward to continuing this series~

While watching some reading sprints – this time on Jadeyraereads‘ channel – I finished Bleach vol 8 (215-592). This was a bit of a let down considering volume 7 was amazing! This felt bogged down in fight sequences I wasn’t too interested in, and the pacing was odd. I’m still really enjoying the series though.

I then watched some YouTube and after a few hours (I have a problem lol) swapped over to Netflix and watched a Bo Burnham show – Make Happy – I’ve always seen clips and memes of his work and decided to actually watch a full set of his. It’s a chaotic time for sure and Bo’s voice is beautiful โ™ฅ

8pm is final time! And of course I start it by being so proud of my nation… why do we suck so much?! Grown men in this country… ugh. Anyway, I watched the match. And during half time I read a little of Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy (261-271).

I’m actually writing this as England and Italy have gone into extra time. And honestly, I’m over it. I’m literally going to bed after I finish this post. My dad has said before that I don’t respect my nation… but during times where we should be celebrating and rallying together over a fun little game, we just act like absolute shitheads. The behaviour today, especially in London and Wembley was disgusting. If we win this match, a large portion of male football fans will be insufferable and if we lose, they’ll whinge like babies. I cannot stand the culture that a lot of football fans have created – especially concerning our national team. These feelings have been boiling up during the day and it’s just so upsetting. I’m so proud of the English team members and Southgate. They’ve been advocating for great causes throughout.

If England wins, cool. If we lose, ah well.

Goodnight~
