Reads and Watches
September flew by and I think it was mostly because I was so busy at work that the days definitely started to roll into each other.
My plan is to get cosy in the evenings and focus on my hobbies as it’s getting darker earlier now.
September Wrap Up
Lord of the Reads
I genuinely thought that I had read more of my September TBR…
Out of 5 books I only managed to finish two. I am a good way into Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry and really enjoying it, but didn’t have enough time in the month to complete it.

By reading China Dream I got ‘Melkor (Morgoth)’ which is part of the Valar Collection.
Heartstopper Volume 6 also got me a card – ‘Shadowfax’ – which is part of the Deux Ex Animals Collection.
China Dream; Ma Jian ⭐⭐
Heartstopper Vol. 6; Alice Oseman ⭐⭐⭐⭐
For my thoughts on these books, I read them as part of my ‘Spotify chooses how long I read for‘ Challenge!

Series

I watched the second series of ‘Ludwig’ in one sitting. I had a great time and I love the characters so much!
I really enjoyed the individual cases and the main overarching mystery was well placed throughout. I do think that it somewhat feels like we haven’t made much progress with that though as more and more questions and players have entered the picture.
I love the little family unit of John (David Mitchell), Lucy (Anna Maxwell Martin) and Henry (Dylan Hughes) and I need James to never reappear to be honest!
Very excited that there will be a Christmas special of Ludwig!
I also watched ‘The East Palace’ in September and my review will be posted next week. I really enjoyed this! Nam Joo Hyuk and Roh Yoon Seo have great chemistry and the scenery and special effects were amazing.
I watched the first episode of ‘From Now On, Showtime!’ and I do want to get back to it as it was fun and I think it would be great to watch in spooky season! We’re going to ignore the fact that I made no progress in Yellowstone…

Last month I did all the posts that I had planned and I’m hoping to bring that energy into October.

Lord of the Reads || October TBR
Once again, this beautiful game was created by Silvia at Library Unbounded on YouTube.
My companion for this game was Gandalf 🧙🏼♂️
All titles are linked to StoryGraph if you want to read their synopsis.

Roll 1: TBR Jar
I’ve heard good things about M.L. Rio and I thought this would be a good insight into their writing as If We Were Villains is intimidating to me for some reason. I don’t really know what this is about, but I love the green cover, so hopefully that bodes well for me!
Roll 2: Read a Book by a Prolific Author
The Moving Finger; Agatha Christie
Agatha Christie wrote over 90 books, so she certainly fits the prolific criteria! The Moving Finger is the third book in the Miss Marple series and it seems a lot darker than the previous two.
Roll 3: Read a Collection of Short Stories
Arabian Nights; Translated by Sir Richard Burton
I’m finding that I don’t really like short story collections all that much but the only one I haven’t read on my shelves is Arabian Nights. I’m looking forward to this and I think it will be fun to read a story or two before bed each night.

Roll 4: A Book Recommended by a Favourite Author
Bringing Down the Duke; Evie Dunmore
I have given Julia Quinn five 5⭐’s so she’s definitely a favourite author in my book, and she recommended the League of Extraordinary Women series in a Goodreads article back in 2022.
Roll 5: Read a Romance
The Geographer’s Map to Romance; India Holton
This is the second book in the Love Academic series and this one follows a couple that are in a marriage of convenience who are estranged, but unknowingly obsessed with each other. I’m excited for the magic, the peril and the fun humour India Holton always brings to the table!
Roll 6: The Cover Features a Mode of Transportation
The God of the Woods; Liz Moore
I nearly skipped over this book but thankfully noticed the person in the boat! I wanted to add in another mystery because we’re starting to transition into Autumn and it feels right.
I love a historical novel and dual timelines, when done well, can make for such a compelling read. The only concern I have is that I’ve heard it’s slow and the font is so tiny in my edition and it’s nearly 500 pages long…

TV Series

I want to keep watching ‘From Now On, Showtime!’ as, like I said, I had a lot of fun with the first episode.
I also recently found ‘Death Comes to Pemberley’ in a charity shop and I’ve wanted to watch it for such a long time. I didn’t like the book, but the cast of this is stacked and the BBC don’t play when it comes to period dramas so I have high hopes.
I’ve been meaning to watch ‘Crash Landing on You’ for years now and I’m finally going to give it a go.
Have you read or seen anything mentioned in this post? Let me know if you have any plans of your own in October!
Thanks for reading! I hope you’re having a lovely day and staying safe 💕
