February 2022
Remember to stay up to date with the world, listen to those facing atrocities and help spread awareness/donate where you’re able to.
I thought it would be fun to do a Kpop TBR every other month and in February I decided to choose MAMAMOO as this quartet is one of my favourite groups ♥
I have only chosen four books for my tbr in February – it’s a shorter month and I can envision my work getting more tiresome because England is run by a bunch of morons and covid restrictions are being all blown to the wind…
Anyway, I made a little graphic for the prompts (which are inspired by song titles) and a little infographic with some basic info about the members:
Friday Night
read a book on a friday night: Bleach 3-in-1 Volume 12; Tite Kubo
Ichigo Kurosaki never asked for the ability to see ghosts—he was born with the gift. When his family is attacked by a Hollow—a malevolent lost soul—Ichigo becomes a Soul Reaper, dedicating his life to protecting the innocent and helping the tortured spirits themselves find peace. The Soul Reapers have finally joined Ichigo and his friends in the fight against the Espada in Hueco Mundo.
Goodreads
I’m still enjoying this series, especially as I love Ichigo so much. The Hueco Mundo arc is a bit long… but I’m still interested in all the character development we’re seeing for some of my children~
Destiny
star crossed lovers: Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi Vol. 1; Mo Xiang Tong Xiu
Wei Wuxian was once one of the most powerful men of his generation, a talented and clever young cultivator who harnessed martial arts and spirituality into powerful abilities. But when the horrors of war led him to seek more power through demonic cultivation, the world’s respect for his abilities turned to fear, and his death was celebrated throughout the land.
Years later, he awakens in the body of an aggrieved young man who sacrifices his soul so that Wei Wuxian can exact revenge on his behalf. Though granted a second life, Wei Wuxian is not free from his first, nor the mysteries that appear before him now. Yet this time, he’ll face it all with the righteous and esteemed Lan Wangji at his side, another powerful cultivator whose unwavering dedication and shared memories of their past will help shine a light on the dark truths that surround them.
Goodreads
This is the first book in the series that was adapted into The Untamed and for a drama I haven’t watched, I know a lot about it. I blame twitter 😂 I know that there is a lot of differences between the two, but from what I know about the general plot, I’m excited!
Open Your Mind
read a non-fiction: God is Not Great; Christopher Hitchens
With his unique brand of erudition and wit, Hitchens describes the ways in which religion is man-made. “God did not make us,” he says. “We made God.” He explains the ways in which religion is immoral: We damage our children by indoctrinating them. It is a cause of sexual repression, violence, and ignorance. It is a distortion of our origins and the cosmos. In the place of religion, Hitchens offers the promise of a new enlightenment through science and reason, a realm in which hope and wonder can be found through a strand of DNA or a gaze through the Hubble Telescope. As Hitchens sees it, you needn’t get the blues once you discover the heavens are empty.
Goodreads
I’ve been meaning to read this since I bought it last year, so I’m going to pick up my highlighter and finally get to it! In my opinion Hitchens was an incredibly interesting and eloquent speaker/debater, so I hope that his writing is the same.
You’re The Best
anticipated 5⭐ read: The Silence of Bones; June Hur
1800, Joseon (Korea). Homesick and orphaned sixteen-year-old Seol is living out the ancient curse: “May you live in interesting times.” Indentured to the police bureau, she’s been tasked with assisting a well-respected young inspector with the investigation into the politically charged murder of a noblewoman.
As they delve deeper into the dead woman’s secrets, Seol forms an unlikely bond of friendship with the inspector. But her loyalty is tested when he becomes the prime suspect, and Seol may be the only one capable of discovering what truly happened on the night of the murder.
But in a land where silence and obedience are valued above all else, curiosity can be deadly.
Goodreads
I love mysteries and I love sageuks, so I need this in my life! I bought June Hur’s three novels and I’m excited to get to them all this year because they sound so interesting.
I’m also using this book to fill girlxoxo’s Monthly Motif Reading Challenge for February: Girl Power. Highlighting Women! Female Authors, Fierce female characters, feminism, female body positivity, females in science/government, etc.
OTHER
I’m not giving myself a punishment for not completing my January TBR and if I can get to the ones I didn’t read in February then I will. I definitely plan to finish Princess Academy first (if I haven’t done so by the end of today) as it’s January’s prompt for the motif reading challenge so I should probably get that done and not fail the yearly challenge at the beginning 😅
Do you have any thoughts on these books? What books do you plan on reading in February?
Thank you for reading!
I hope you’re having a lovely day and staying safe ♥
This is such a cute idea! I just started The Silence of Bones and I’m hoping it won’t disappoint!

Actually, I now realize I confused The Silence of Bones with her new book The Red Palace haha! That’s the one I just got. *-*
