It’s time for the Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests!
I completed the OWL’s necessary to keep going onto my NEWT’s and I’m so excited!!!
The NEWT’s redathon takes place during the entirety of August~
According to the pamphlet above, I need at least 4 O’s (Outstanding) in my selected disciplines… I don’t quite get this (I’m dumb ๐). However, for a Ministry Worker, the four NEWT’s I have to complete are Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Potions and Transfiguration. So I’m doing those!
As I need to get Outstanding’s, I have to complete the preceding A and E challenges. So I will have to read 12 books in August to become an Unspeakable!
CHALLENGES:
CHARMS
A: Read a book that you think has a gorgeous cover
Sorcery of Thorns; Margaret Rogerson
E: Read a comic/ graphic novel/ manga (or book under 150 pages)
Saga Volume 1; Brian K. Vaughan (author) & Fiona Staples (artist)
O: Spongify (softening charm) – read a paperback book
The Kingdom; Jess Rothenberg
DEFENCE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS
A: Book that’s black under the dust jacket
New Moon Graphic Novel Volume 1; Kim Young & Stephanie Meyer
I’m never going to escape the Twilight saga and it’s always going to be a willing capture haha ^^”
E: Gilderoy’s memory charm – (grab a pen!) first book that you remembered just now from your TBR!
An Enchantment of Ravens; Margaret Rogerson
O: Cornish pixie! Swat it away with a book written by an English author or set in England
Pride & Prejudice; Jane Austen
POTIONS
A: Pollyjuice potion: read your friend’s favourite book!
Bad Blood; Rhiannon Lassiter
Mel told me this is the book that she always falls back on and from her enthusiasm I’m really looking forward to reading Bad Blood!
E: House ingredient: book with a cover in your Hogwarts house colour
The Dark Days Club; Alison Goodman
The book colours of Ravenclaw are blue and bronze. The closest I could get with the bronze element was gold and I’m going with it haha!
O: Book that starts with a prologue
The Fifth Season; N.K. Jemisin
I’ve heard so many great things about this series, and I recently discovered that N.K. Jemisin is a black woman! I’m even more excited because my favourite fantasy is written by women โฅ.โฅ (to clarify I was being sexist and assumed N.K. Jemisin was a man)
TRANSFIGURATION
A: Read a book with LGBTQIA+ representation
Crooked Kingdom; Leigh Bardugo
E: Read a book that’s not a first in the series
Lockwood & Co., The Whispering Skull; Jonathan Stroud
O: McGonagall does not mess around! Read a book over 500 pages
Thunderhead; Neal Shusterman
Are you participating in the NEWTs? What job are you aiming for?
Thanks for reading! I hope you’re having a lovely day~
