BingoAThon TBR || 12th-18th May 2019

I’m actually going to read a group book?

This ReadAThon looks so much fun, especially as I’m really excited about the group book, Once & Future.

The readathon follows prompts on a bingo board and you can double and even triple up the challenges. And as this is only a week long readathon – 12th May to 18th – and I should be revising for an exam I will definitely be doing so! I’ll also be putting one of my O.W.L’s books (if you want to know why I’m doing the OWL’s readathon a month late, click here).

The hosts for this readathon are Codie’s Book Corner, Ola Quinn and Natasha from myreadingisodd.

Group Book and New To Me Author:

Once & Future; Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy

This is a gender-bent retelling of King Arthur in space, with a sapphic romance! How am I supposed to pass that over?

I’m so here for this and I’m looking forward to reading from a new to me author!

Anticipated Book and Pink and/or Blue on the Cover:

The Rose & The Dagger; Renée Ahdieh

I read The Wrath & The Dawn at the beginning of the month and I loved it! I gave it 5 stars and I’m so excited for the second book in this duology.

I have heard that this isn’t as good as the first book, but I still highly anticipate this reading experience!! ♥

Cover Buy:

The Essex Serpent; Sarah Perry

I vaguely knew the title of the Essex Serpent, but I know nothing about it, and still don’t haha (which is ridiculous, but I will read it this month! I need to pass my O.W.L’s!).

And online, the cover doesn’t look nice. BUT the book in real life is beautiful! The cover has blue hues to it and shiny gold lettering!

Very New/Old on TBR and 5 Star Prediction:

Aurora Rising; Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

This is the last book I  brought (on it’s release day 7.5.19) and I am so EXCITED! I love the Illuminae Files and while I’m a little disappointed that it isn’t mixed media, but I love this pair of authors. And I can see this being a 5 star read!

This story sounds wonderful and contains so much representation. And who doesn’t love a rag tag team of underdogs in space?!

Diverse Reps and Favourite Genre:

Six of Crows; Leigh Bardugo

My favourite genre is fantasy and this book falls into this genre. There is disability and LGBTQIA+ rep (as does Aurora Rising).

Six of Crows is set in the Grisha Universe (however, I haven’t read the originally trilogy and you don’t have to and I’m not interested), and involves a world that has a magic system. The story follows a group of young people (mostly criminals I believe) who get hired to pull off a heist.
