2023 so far has been a bit of a meh year. There have been a couple of highlight moments, but I spend most of my life working, stressed about work or just stressed in general 😅
Which is to say that I need to start doing things I enjoy again, like blogging!
I set some goals for myself at the start of this year – Blog Plans for 2023 – and it’s easy to guess that I am indeed failing on most counts.
DRAMAS
My plan was to do more Try an Episode posts, which would help me watch more. It is August and I have not completed a single one… I have also only watched a couple of dramas:
Yes, I did include the Sweet and Sour (2021) film because when I say a couple of dramas, I meant just that!
RESET
I do want to watch more dramas, there are so many that I want to get to. However, I do know myself and the next couple of months – August to October – are the busiest times at my workplace; it may be hard to watch anything.
My basic plan is to watch one drama a month from now on. I have a tentative list, but I’m not holding myself to anything, as my mood is the pilot of my life 😂 I know for sure that I will watch D.P. series 2 as I’ll be watching it with my dad.
KPOP
This one is also embarrassing.
I’ve barely listened to any new kpop this year. I’ve not even listened to the new SHINee music… Which negates my plans for the whole year, as I was going to do a “best of” each month to then do a “Best KPOP of 2023” list at the end of the year.
reset
I’ve got a couple ideas on how to branch out into new kpop, as I do tend to just listen to what is on my spotify list. I also plan on making one post a month about kpop, but this isn’t limited to 2023 releases.
BOOKS
I planned on making random generated TBR’s with a list of 52 prompts I compiled for the year and let me tell you how quickly I forgot about that list… 😂
I am also taking part in Kayla’s (BooksandLala) BuzzwordAthon. I’ve been reading mostly out of order, but I’m hopeful that I will complete it by the end of the year.
I also wanted to read more non-fiction, and I gave myself a list of 12 books to complete. This is the only “goal” that I am smashing! I have currently read 8/12 from the list and a couple others ♥
My plan at the start of the year was to read 76 books and according to Goodreads, I am 12 books ahead of schedule!
So, while some of my goals are being left to the wayside, I’m doing well on the reading front.
reset
My reset is mostly about TBR and Wrap Up content. I love making tbr’s, but it can be a bit depressing if it doesn’t go well and the evidence of failure is right there. So, I won’t be posting any tbr’s from now on. If I take part in a read-a-thon or do a themed reading month, I’m going to just share my results (or not lol) once it’s all done.
I also love read-a-thons! Again making lists is a passion of mine 😂 However, because I’m a slow reader and I’m also not competitive, I become a silent participant. This is unlikely to change. Which is why I’m just going to do these read-a-thon’s when I want to.
Case in point, the Magical Read-A-Thon by @BookRoast has such a cool concept and graphics, but they are currently doing another round, but I plan on just starting from the beginning. Once I’ve made some progress I’ll make a post. How long will it take me to do this? It’s a surprise for us all 😂
BLOG RESET
My goal has not changed, I do want to blog more. And considering that for months I’ve basically been at the bottom, I feel like it should be easier to achieve something.
My plan is to do 4 blog posts a month within each category below:
🌸 Dramas – I will be reviewing ones I watch and build my reviewing skills
🌸 KPOP – These will range from music, performances, games/tags, fashion etc.
🌸 Books – These will mostly be wrap ups (either full or one sentence reviews), and maybe a book tag or challenge
🌸 Films – My family has so many streaming services, so I want to actually feel like we’re getting our money’s worth, so I’m going to be watching more films. These posts may come in the form of reviews, a “film diary”, challenges etc.
I may also do a post every so often about learning a new hobby or something as I recently remembered that I have a yearly subscription to Skillshare… which I have looked at maybe three times max.
How is your 2023 going so far? I hope you’re succeeding in your goals!
Thanks for reading!
I hope you’re having a lovely day and staying safe ♥
