So far this year I haven’t been super successful with completing my tbr’s for each month. I saw last month that both Becca and The Books and Maddie of Book Browsing Blog did tbr’s for April and May together. For me right now, this seems like a great idea, especially Maddie’s game as they are essentially allowing the two months to be filled with mood reads with guidance from prompts instead of picking the books immediately and having to stick to that pile.
This means that I am playing along with Maddie’s Dart Attack which is such a fun idea and seems like so much fun to play when I watch. My aim is definitely not as good as Maddie’s though ๐ Maddie did also do a extra dart attack just over a week ago but I’m not nearly as excited for the prompts in that video.
In this post I will be listing the prompts and my thoughts on them. If you have any suggestions for them, let me know in the comments!
seasonal read
This one is probably the one I’m most unsure of as I don’t really tend to know what books are fully about when I go into them, let alone what season they’re set in. I think I’ll most likely go by the cover vibes! Although there is the Wallflower series by Lisa Kleypas that I am currently reading and the fourth book is called Scandal in Spring so that’s an option if I can get to it before May ends.
new to me author
I have a lot of new to me authors on my shelves so I have a plethora of options!
anticipated read
I actually have some choices for this one as there are three books I really want to read soon. Last month I bought two non-fiction books: Wordslut by Amanda Montell and It’s Not About the Burqa which is a short essay collection edited by Mariam Khan. I’m so excited for both of these~
And I have also pre-ordered the paperback copy of The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman which comes out in May. I hate how long it has taken for this paperback format to come out! The third book even has a cover reveal and release date for this year… I wish paperbacks and hardbacks were published at the same time (especially as I live in the UK which predominantly publishes paperbacks initially anyway – do it for them all).
on someone’s favourite list of last year
There are so many BookTuber’s and book bloggers I watch that do these lists at the end of the year so I’ll need to look at this type of content again and see if some of my owned tbr show up โฅ
on a previous tbr
Again, I have a lot to choose from since I started doing them lol
favourite author
This one is pretty difficult for me as I’m not sure I have one… I have favourite books, but not necessarily favourite authors. Before 2017 I would have said Derek Landy without hesitation – I have a quote from Skulduggery Pleasant tattooed onto my body. However, his writing and humour has deviated from what I enjoyed in “Phase One” of the series. I still have four books in Phase Two to read and I own them so I could choose one of those…
I do love Jane Austen, but I have read all her completed works – my favourite being Pride and Prejudice; but I read that this month. I might re-read Persuasion and can be an excuse to buy a nicer copy of it ๐
phone ban of 4hr
I tend to forget about my phone a lot (especially now as I’m doing my cross stitch) so a four hour ban is nothing to me! And I think it will be useful as I need to get back into reading physically as it is my favourite format, even if it takes the longest.
For this prompt it can be completed if I do it in just one day, but I plan to do this at least 3 or 4 times a week.
new series
Again, I have loads of these on my shelves! And they’re mostly completed series of which I own all the books… a habit I need to stop doing!
What are your reading plans for next month?
Thank you for reading!
I hope you have a lovely day and are staying safe โฅ
