In 2022, I don’t want to have too many challenges that I’m going to get overwhelmed by and ultimately beat myself up about not completing. And what is a great way of setting a lot of little challenges, but only truly needing to complete 5 prompts is a bingo board!

I have seen loads of people make bingo boards – of dramas or prompts – you especially see them at the end of the year when people are crossing off and sharing what they watched (most typically it’s releases from throughout the year).

I recently found the Unbothered Unnies and they each have a board and give updates on how they’re doing every month. I won’t be bringing that aspect here, but it got me thinking that this would be a cute little project that goes on in the background while I casually watch dramas.

side note: I do mention kdramas a lot, but for any prompt that isn’t specific to Korean television, I will also be counting series from other countries such as Japan, Thailand, Taiwan and China etc.

ROW ONE

HYPED DRAMA

For this I’m going to watch something that I’ve seen a lot of people on my twitter timeline talking about. This may be a new drama in 2022, or just a drama that had a huge buzz around it when it came out, or even an oldie that everyone seems to love.

SHOWER SCENE

This is a staple of kdrama’s and I’m a big fan 😂

GHOSTS

I’ll probably try to complete this prompt to get into the spooky season 👻

BACK HUG

Another staple that I do really like. When it’s done well, it can be such a cute show of affection!

RICH KIDS

Spoilt brats are everywhere in dramaland, so I don’t think this prompt will be hard to complete 😂

ROW TWO

JTBC DRAMA

There are a lot of JTBC dramas that I’m interested in watching and they have made a lot of popular series.

FRIENDS TO LOVERS

This is a “newer” trope that has become more popular and I really like it as well. It’s nice to see two characters having an established relationship and seeing their romantic feelings blossom and grow.

LGBTQIA+ CHARACTER

In the past year or so, we have seen an emergence of more LGBTQIA+ representation in dramas. I’m not sure how good the representation is, but there are a few that I’ve seen people enjoy on twitter, so I hope I can watch something great.

SET IN SCHOOL

There are a lot of school dramas that I’ve been interested in over the years, and I’ve not really watched any of them 😅

LEADS LIVE TOGETHER

I love when leads are forced into cohabitation for whatever reasons – honestly it could be for the dumbest thing and I wouldn’t care – because this situation can be so funny and heartwarming!

ROW THREE

NOONA ROMANCE

In the last couple years I’ve watched more noona romances, and when this is done well, I think the dynamic is really good. I also find that the male leads are a bit softer in these, not sure if it’s just the ones I’ve seen!

RAIN SCENE

I have seen so many rain scene’s over the years and I’m happy to keep seeing them. These types of scenes always get to me and make me cry.

2022 NAME WATCHLIST

This is for the free space on the board, and for this spot I’m going to cross it off when I complete one of the dramas from my watchlist. There are eight dramas, one for each letter of my name! You can check that list out here.

FAKE/CONTRACT RELATIONSHIP

I love fake relationships! To see the progression of two people – who normally don’t like each other – fake date can start off being hilarious and then can be incredibly compelling. I especially love when they call each other pet names and they start using them unironically ♥

TVN DRAMA

I’ve probably heard of all tvN dramas even if I haven’t watched many of them. So, it’s no surprise that there are a couple tvN dramas on my watchlist for next year.

WEB DRAMA

There are a lot of hidden gems when it comes to webdrama’s!

CHAEBOL OR ROYAL POWER STRUGGLE

In most dramas I watch, there will be a power struggle. Be it some chaebol’s in a romance drama or royal intrigue in the palace. When this is written well, it is such a compelling component to a drama!

ENEMIES TO LOVERS

This is the trope that built my love for drama’s. When I started watching them, enemies to lovers was literally in every drama, and I’m not even kidding! It’s a trope that can be questionable, but when it’s done well *chef’s kiss*

2021 DRAMA

There have been quite a few dramas that came out this year that I wish I had got round to, so I’m going to get to a least one with this prompt!

SAGEUK

I love sageuk’s and I wish I watched more, but they can be intense and can take a lot out of the viewer. However, I do know that there are softer and funnier sageuk’s, which would be fun to watch with my dad.

ROW FIVE

DRUNK SCENE

I don’t know if I’ve watched a drama where there isn’t a drunk scene!

BL DRAMA

I’ve watched a couple this year, so I will easily complete this prompt, especially as I’m pretty excited for Between Us, which is a side story to Until We Meet Again. I also will be looking more into GL series as well, so if you have any good recommendations, let me know!

CHILDHOOD CONNECTION

I know that a lot of people don’t like this trope and I can understand why. A lot of the time the connection is very weak and it doesn’t add anything, and sometimes adds a lot of convoluted filler to the drama. I’m hoping that when I cross this prompt off, it’s done well.

WORKPLACE ROMANCE

I know that I will never have a workplace romance (it means someone would like me so lol) but I love this trope so much. I’ve watched a couple that I’ve really enjoyed and I need to find more!

CRIME/JUSTICE

I love crime dramas and there are so many good ones! The only issue I have is that sometimes I’m a wimp 😅
