Kpop ReadAThon Round 4 || ITZY + ATEEZ ♥

Let’s get back into the reading! 📖

  • https://getinformed.carrd.co/ This is an incredible carrd with information and resources about many of the issues the world is going through right now!
  • I find Twitter an extremely useful tool in finding information about these injustices and ways to help. As well as Change.org for petitions!

After spending so much time on Twice because I was not reading, I’ve decided to choose two of the Team’s that only have a few prompts and do them simultaneously. This means, that I’ll be able to swap each week and not keep posting about one group for weeks on end!

The Kpop ReadAThon was created by Noura over at theperksofbeingnourablog – and their Twitter is @NunuKz (which is where there is a thread all about the prompts etc.) To see my first TBR that explains my plans, you can check out that post here

The two groups I have chosen are JYP girl group ITZY and KQ Entertainment boy group ATEEZ. I’m familiar with ITZY – I really like their music ♥ But I don’t know this boy group. Hopefully, I find another group to stan!

Each team has 3 prompts each, so it’s still the same amount of books as a lot of the others.

ITZY

ITZY is a 5 member girl group that debuted in February of last year. The three prompts are titles of tracks from IT’z ME.

24hrs: Read a Book in 24 hours

The Murder on the Links; Agatha Christie

This is the second book in the Poirot series. The book is around 270 pages and the font in my copy is pretty big, so I feel confident that I can read this in a day!

On a French golf course, a millionaire is found stabbed in the back…

An urgent cry for help brings Poirot to France. But he arrives too late to save his client, whose brutally stabbed body now lies face downwards in a shallow grave on a golf course.

The case is turned upside down by the discovery of a second, identically murdered corpse…

You Make Me: A Book a Friend Recommended

The Power; Naomi Alderman

A friend I’ve known since secondary school, who also recommended me a book in my last tbr, suggested I read The Power. It’s not something I would have really picked up on my own, but it sounds interesting and I hope to really like this recommendation ♥

In The Power the world is a recognisable place: there’s a rich Nigerian kid who lounges around the family pool; a foster girl whose religious parents hide their true nature; a local American politician; a tough London girl from a tricky family. But something vital has changed, causing their lives to converge with devastating effect. Teenage girls now have immense physical power – they can cause agonising pain and even death. And, with this small twist of nature, the world changes utterly.

Wannabe: A Book You’ve Been Wanting to Read or a Has a Character You’d Want to Be

The Obelisk Gate; N.K. Jemisin

This is the second book in the Broken Earth Trilogy. I really liked the first book and have been meaning to carry on, however, I find it a bit daunting! I’m always like “I’m not smart enough for this right now”, well you know what if I think that way I’ll never read this book! 😂

This is a sci-fi – end of the world – trilogy. The first book had 3 timelines and the way they all wove together was magical!

ATEEZ

ATEEZ is an 8 member boy group that debuted in October 2018. The three prompts are from their 4th mini album Treasure Epilogue: Action to Answer.

Star 1117: Book With a Star on the Cover

The Bear and the Nightingale; Katherine Arden

I’ve seen a lot of polarising opinions on this book, but I’m intrigued by this Russian fairytale inspired trilogy.

At the edge of the Russian wilderness, winter lasts most of the year and the snowdrifts grow taller than houses. But Vasilisa doesn’t mind—she spends the winter nights huddled around the embers of a fire with her beloved siblings, listening to her nurse’s fairy tales. Above all, she loves the chilling story of Frost, the blue-eyed winter demon, who appears in the frigid night to claim unwary souls. Wise Russians fear him, her nurse says, and honor the spirits of house and yard and forest that protect their homes from evil.

As danger circles, Vasilisa must defy even the people she loves and call on dangerous gifts she has long concealed—this, in order to protect her family from a threat that seems to have stepped from her nurse’s most frightening tales.

Precious: A Book That Means a Lot to You or By an Author You Love

Pride & Prejudice; Jane Austen

This is my favourite book and the book I mostly read for comfort. In these chilly months, it will be nice to throw myself into the world of the Bennet’s ♥

Jane Austen called this brilliant work “her own darling child” and its vivacious heroine, Elizabeth Bennet, “as delightful a creature as ever appeared in print.” The romantic clash between the opinionated Elizabeth and her proud beau, Mr. Darcy, is a splendid performance of civilized sparring. And Jane Austen’s radiant wit sparkles as her characters dance a delicate quadrille of flirtation and intrigue, making this book the most superb comedy of manners of Regency England.

Outro: Long Journey: Read a Long Book (over 400 pages)

Midnight Sun; Stephanie Meyer

I have several books that I should put in this challenge, but instead I’m going to pick up Midnight Sun. This is the Edward POV of Twilight and it’s obnoxiously long! I get that Edward doesn’t sleep, but over 600 pages?! I better have so much Carlisle content!

And, it would be great if you’ve also purchased this book or would like help the Quilette tribe (which Meyer has profited off their name and culture), you can donate here. They live in a Tsunami zone, and need funds to move buildings – such as the school – to higher grounds ♥

At last, readers can experience Edward’s version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun.

This unforgettable tale as told through Edward’s eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Meeting Bella is both the most unnerving and intriguing event he has experienced in all his years as a vampire. As we learn more fascinating details about Edward’s past and the complexity of his inner thoughts, we understand why this is the defining struggle of his life. How can he justify following his heart if it means leading Bella into danger?
