this is basically: Hayleigh loves ballads
I tend to be late to music because I have a habit of listening to the same songs on repeat all the time. For the last couple of months I played Move by Taemin pretty much every hour and every day! And then I forget they exist only to refind them and love them all over again ๐
It’s a cycle that I’m trying to break because I miss out on a lot of great music. This doesn’t just happen with Korean music, but honestly other than Isak Danielson, I haven’t been listening to anything other than kpop ๐
I’ve chosen the ones that I’ve been listening to consistently for the actual fortnight โฅ
DAY6 “I Need Somebody”:
I’ve been falling down a Day6 hole and this song is my favourite so far! It’s so beautifully sung – each member has such a unique voice – and the lyrics are incredibly relatable ๐ญ
Yoon Min Soo & Shin Yong Jae “Fate”:
This is a cover of the song Fate by the legend that is Lee Sun Hee. This song is absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking. I really like Lee Sun Hee’s performance of this song with Kyuhyun, however, I stumbled across this and cover-wise this is just stunning!
I don’t know either of these singers. At first I was a little off put by Lee Min Soo’s voice, while I instantly fell in love with Shin Yong Jae’s (it’s so clear and crisp and pretty!). However, I have listened to this song a lot and I mean a lot! Now I adore both voices, Min Soo’s oozes emotion and the combination of voices is perfect โฅ
Lee Moon Sae & Kim Yoon Hee “Whistle”:
Lee Moon Sae is a legend in Korea and his voice is such a pleasure to listen to. I’ve heard this song sung by others, such as Roy Kim (he has an amazing voice… too bad he’s trash! *edit: he’s not trash, just not great at choosing friends) and Davichi’s Kang Min Kyung โฅ
I stumbled across this performance and was awestruck. Their voices go so well together: the somewhat gruff with the clear and beautiful. At the time of filming this for Fantastic Duo, Yoon Hee was 14! The talent, I could never! Her vocals are so pretty and her high nights โฅ.โฅ She has also debuted, so I would suggest going to check her out โฅ
Hong Jin Young & Ban Ji Ha “Cheer Up”:
This is another Fantastic Duo song (I should probably watch this programme ๐ ). I love Jin Young, she is funny, sweet and adorable. She also has a fantastic voice (we love a bit of trot in this household!).
Cheer Up is one of my favourite songs of all time. It has such a beautiful and hopeful message of life goes on despite it being hard at times. It tells you that you did well today and to keep moving forward. The original has a bit of bounce to it, however, this duet is all emotion and slow and I absolutely love it.
Jin Young’s vocals are to die for, so hauntingly beautiful and Ji Ha is amazing. He has a really nice voice which conveys emotion so well!
Yoon Jong Shin “I like”:
I’ve seen this man on variety, but I did not know he had the voice of an angel! I’ve played this so much, often on repeat.
I like is a heartbreak song from the perspective of a man. It’s about the woman he loves moving on while he still misses her. I will say, this live version is superior to the studio one. There is so much emotion and I instantly got dragged in. I’ve never dated, but I feel heartbroken listening to this ๐๐ญ
Do you like any of these songs? What have you been listening to on repeat?
Thanks for reading! I hope you’re having a lovely day and staying safe โฅ
