🎬 JAN – JUL 🎬

I started my film club (with me as the sole member) on a whim after a bit of an anxiety spiral and I put way too much pressure on myself. Three films a week was never going to be viable for the long run and my brain knew that and I ignored it.

I tried to be gentler to myself at the end of last year and I still failed. I was just not in the mood to watch films… So, here’s the Film Club Announcement for 2026! 🎉

This post will be all the films that I’ve scheduled in for the first half of the year, up until the 4th of July. I’ve only chosen films that I own physically, so I can’t blame or use the excuse of not being able to stream a particular film. This was an issue with some of the picks I had last year. So, apologies for any lack of diversity, I’m trying to build my dvd collection and it’s mostly through charity shop finds!

The plan right now is to watch a film each Saturday or Sunday.

I used a random number generator to select the picks from my collection and then used it again to choose the slot for each film. For reference, I didn’t make it clear in the graphic, within the month section, week 1 and 2 are at the top and week 3 and 4 are on the bottom.

MONTHS ONE + TWO

I’m looking forward to the first two months so much! The palette alone with all the covers is enough to make me excited for each film. I’m most wary for The Godfather as it’s so outside my realm of a normal watch, but maybe this is when I’ll become a true film girly~

I don’t like Dickens written down, but adaptations of his works tend to be top tier and I’m so excited to start the 2026 film club with Dev Patel on my screen đź’–

MONTHS THREE + FOUR

Months 3+4 make me nervous for some reason… All the films sound great and there are some classics here, but I don’t know what it is that makes me feel a bit apprehensive about these 8 weeks.

Not going to lie I’m probably most excited for Down With Love, simply because Ewan McGregor is so handsome!

MONTHS FIVE + SIX

I think it’s pretty cute that I’ll be watching Wimbledon in June, when the actual event takes place. I’m nervous about Pan’s Labyrinth and Little Monsters as I’m not sure how into the horror genre they go. Pan’s Labyrinth is mostly marketed as Dark Fantasy, but I’ve seen clips of Doug Jones in his costumes and I’m a baby so…

I think that Son of Saul will ruin me.

After each month I’ll review the films, and in July I’ll pop in with the films I’ve chosen for the second half of the year!

If I watch any of the previous film picks from 2025, I will add those reviews in each month just in case anyone is interested 🙂

Thanks for reading!

I hope you’re having a lovely day and staying safe đź’•
