AUG SEP OCT NOV DEC
Seven months of 2025 have already passed, and I’m someone who loves making plans and then changing them later on to make myself feel better. And honestly, in this day and age, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.
So here we are in August changing the shape of the challenges I set for myself at the start of the year. A lot of the challenges were to do with reading, as that is a community that loves a challenge, and I get sucked into them.
I’m trying to make things more achievable and less about consuming as much as possible – and not comparing myself to others.
Bingo Board Update
I made the bingo boards at the beginning of the year to make myself more conscious of the media I consumed. I had fun making them, but I never really thought about them until it came time to do the quarterly wrap-up. I ‘saved’ £195 through the boards, so I just moved that amount over to my savings.
As of the 1st of August, I’m going to scrap the previous boards. I’ve created a new one specifically for the rest of the year. Each square on the board has a numerical goal along with the prompt and combines books, films and tv.

Reading Challenge
I do the Reading Challenge every year and it’s staying at 75. I want to take more time with the books I’m reading for the rest of year, but I’m confident I’ll complete my goal!

Buzzword Update
I’m still going to try to complete the Buzzword Challenge created by BooksandLala – but I’m not too fussed if I fall short. I don’t think I’ve ever completed the Buzzword and I can’t say it’s looking that promising with how I’m doing so far!

r/Fantasy Update
I discovered Reddit’s r/Fantasy Bingo challenge this year, which runs from 1st April 2025 to 31st March 2026. It’s already made me pick up books that I’ve been putting off, and I’m looking forward to a lot of the books I’ve chosen for the squares!

Hayleigh’s Film Club! Thoughts
I started my film club in late June and a whole month has flown by. The way I chose the films was random, and it’s been very hit and miss (mostly miss so far 😭) and I’m definitely going to choose the 2026 picks with more thought.
However, as I have already picked all the films for 2025, I won’t be making any changes and I’m hoping that the first month was an anomaly and I’m only going to have wins from now on!
I’ve also been starting up my dvd collection (via charity shops) and it’s nice to actually own the media instead of hoping it’s on one of the several streaming services I have or renting it for about £3 – especially when some of the dvds cost as little as 25p!
Are there any challenges that you had at the start of the year which have had a little makeover? I think we place so much pressure on ourselves, especially on social media, and it’s unnecessary pressure.
Thank you for reading!
I hope you’re having a lovely day and staying safe ♥
