Situ Mo (Xing Fei) a soon to be graduating accounting student, somewhat forced into her degree decides to pursue her true passion – advertising – with an internship. This switch means she finds herself living at a flat closer to her new job with the help of her mum. Obviously, she forgets to mention that her friend’s son, Gu Wei Yi (Lin Yi) – a physics student at the same university – also lives there occasionally.
Unperturbed, the two start to cohabit and Gu Wei Yi finds himself softened by Situ Mo’s easy charm.

Put Your Head on My Shoulder (2019) is a Chinese romance drama. There are several plot points and conflicts, however, they are often easily overcome by our leads. The only one which took several episodes to overcome was the conflict between Situ Mo and her childhood friend and crush Fu Pei (Tang Xiao Tian). This was necessary as it furthered the relationship between our two leads and also gave Fu Pei much needed character development.
While, our leads didn’t have much in common and it’s very much an opposites attract situation, they were adorable. In a drama like this, it’s normally a given that there would be an element of animosity to start with. However, Gu Wei Yi, despite being very analytical, is caring and kind to Situ Mo from the start. He can be a bit standoffish to people, but he’s never outright mean to anyone. It was super refreshing and made everything cuter.

The side characters were also fun and Gu Wei Yi’s Professor (Jie Bing) was one of my favourites. He was a mentor in both science and love and at times he was ridiculous. On the flipside, I enjoyed the calm that Wang Shan (Zheng Ying Chen) brought to the friendship group and the way she supported her friends. I felt the same with Xie Yu Yin (Zhou Zi Xin) in that she was more serious. I would have liked more development with her, but it was good to see her get some closure in the end.
The plot is nothing special and for some I can see Put Your Head on My Shoulder being boring, but it’s adorable and if you just want to smile and feel happiness, I would highly recommend. There are some cringey scenes, but overall, it’s just a very sweet and fun drama.
