In February, March and April I read the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn. I have not watched Netflix’s Bridgerton and I think I might at some point, so I’m definitely glad I read these first. From what I do know about the TV programme, lots of things have been changed and added.

The Bridgerton series follows the romantic entanglements of a rich family in the Regency era (although some of the later books take place just in the overarching Georgian era as the Regency era was the period: 1811 to 1820). Each book follows one sibling and they are all beautiful and much beloved by the ton at large. And that’s a good thing because they are wild and love a potential scandal.

There will be spoilers in this post as some questions relate to events and people in their book/the series.

My Ratings:

  • The Duke and I: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • The Viscount Who Loved Me: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • An Offer From a Gentleman: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • Romancing Mr Bridgerton: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • To Sir Phillip, With Love: ⭐⭐
  • When He Was Wicked: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • It’s in His Kiss: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • On the Way to the Wedding: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

My average rating for the series as a whole is 4.25 ⭐

The Most Likely To questions come from the Cosmopolitan article “100 best most likely to questions”.

Anthony

Anthony is the eldest Bridgerton and head of the household. When his father dies, he becomes the father figure to most of his younger siblings. This man is dramatic and I love that for him because he would never admit it. He’s all about duty and doing what’s right (which he has instilled in his siblings to varying degrees of success).

Aside from their mother and Daphne, Anthony is most likely to “give emotional support”.

Benedict

Like I said, I don’t watch the Netflix show and even I’m pressed that it’s not going in order of the books. Did Benedict get upset when he shouldn’t have? Maybe, but he always faced his feelings and made things right. He was a romantic and did everything he possibly could to protect Sophie, who by all accounts was “just” a servant.

Benedict is definitely most likely to “marry someone he just met”. He was fully in love with Sophie at that masquerade ball and he never even saw her face or knew her name.

I also put that he would be most likely to “retire to the countryside”, simply because that’s what he does. He spends all his time with his wife and children and paints in the countryside.

Colin

Colin is very similar to Anthony, in that he is very sure of his own judgement and is kind of bossy. The only main difference is that Colin has quite the temper hidden behind his carefree facade. I liked how he and Penelope were able to have conversations about everything, once he stopped being so righteous.

Colin being the most likely to “take a week to reply to a text” and also the most likely to “drop everything and travel the world” go hand in hand. That man, at least for part of his book fits these to a T. I will say that these traits are not applicable for very long!

I don’t know why, but I just get the vibe that Colin would be mostly likely to “give the best gifts”, especially to children. He gives favourite uncle!

And lastly, of course Colin would be the most likely to “write a bestseller”!

Daphne

Daphne, at first, is this very innocent model of a perfect lady. But we quickly see that there is also a playfulness about her and that when she knows what she wants, she will make sure she gets it. She is a smart woman and knows it.

While Anthony does this a lot, I do think that I also need to give Daphne the most likely to “give emotional support”. She gives support to most of her siblings, including Anthony, and most obviously to her husband Simon. Daphne certainly has the most potential to become as wise as her mother.

Daphne, for sure, would be the most likely to “become an influencer” as she’s basically a Regency version. She’s a Duchess, everyone wants to be her! Kind of on the same lines, some influencers give their children interesting names and I definitely think that she is the most likely to “give her kid an unusual (terrible) name”. And I say that because she named one of her children Belinda…

Eloise

In the first couple of books, I did enjoy Eloise and for the most part she’s witty and sarcastic in her own book. We definitely see her as a more rounded character. However, I did not like her love interest that much and I think she forgave a lot of his flaws and this lowered my opinion of her.

I think that Eloise is most likely to “ask for advice, but never take it” and I say that with both amusement and exasperation. Eloise certainly values her own opinions.

Francesca

Francesca is the Bridgerton sibling that I found the most relatable. She is not as outgoing as her siblings and she is often at the fringe and not included. And I don’t think her siblings or mother do it on purpose, I think it’s just the way it is and is part of why she is so independent. Francesca is the least like her siblings and doesn’t really have a strong connection to any one of them (which is often the case for the others).

Due to her independence and strong sense of purpose in managing her household, I think she is also most likely to “retire in the countryside” at her Scottish home.

💙💙💙

Gregory

I would like to say that Benedict was my favourite until this man came along! Gregory is so romantic, a bit dumb, and so full of adoration to the people he loves. The way he treats Lucy from the get-go, even in that friend stage, was so incredibly adorable. While his book takes a while to really get going, I loved him throughout.

He is not afraid to say the truth of his own feelings and thoughts and in saying that I do think that Gregory is the most likely to “say sorry first”. While I do think that some of the other siblings would too, I think that he would mean it first time.

I also can’t give Benedict the whole credit for being the most likely to “marry someone they just met” because Gregory is so enamoured by the concept of love that he was ready to marry Hermione after just seeing the back of her neck…

While, I wouldn’t say that Gregory is reckless, I do think that he would do anything to protect the people he loves and does that include possible actions of public disorder and maybe kidnapping the woman he wants to marry? I think it’s safe to say that he may be the most likely to “end up in jail”.

💒💒💒

Hyacinth

Hyacinth was such a breath of fresh air. She’s an unapologetic gossip, her role model is Lady Danbury and she’s funny! Her novel was so fun and full of drama!

She’s definitely my favourite after Gregory and like him, she would be most likely to “end up in jail”. I mean we literally saw her breaking into the house of her future father-in-law and also steal from said house.

The person most likely to “sleep with a friend’s family member”, is one that I could only give Hyacinth because technically she is besties with Lady Danbury and Gareth is Lady D’s nephew.

All or None

There were quite a few that I thought fit all of the Bridgerton siblings:

  • Who is most likely to “give a sarcastic comment”? Every single member of this family is fluent in sarcasm and, I think this is why they are all most likely to “laugh in a serious moment” because they make each other laugh and are quick to realise the ridiculousness of a lot of scenes they find themselves in.
  • Who is most likely to “have sex outside”? All. Of. Them!
  • Who is mostly likely to “accidentally poison someone with terrible cooking?” I think all of them, but I do think that Daphne and Anthony are the strongest options for this. My girl Daphne just wanted a glass of warm milk and Anthony’s options for them were to wake a servant up in the middle of the night or just drink it cold 😂
  • Who is most likely to “commit a crime”? Now, I know that I said that Hyacinth and Gregory are most likely to be sent to jail, but that’s because I think they would be most likely to get caught. I can see all of these siblings committing crimes, but just getting away with it!
  • They are all most likely to “keep a secret”. These siblings will only tell a secret if it’s a must and if revealing it will protect/help each other and the ones they love. And I will not have Hyacinth slandered about this, she just needs to know it’s a secret, okay? And then she won’t tell anyone!

There is only one prompt I thought that none of the Bridgerton siblings would do:

  • Who is most likely to “cancel plans at the last moment”? I think they would all want to, but they are so dutiful to their mother (if she’s made them go) and each other that they wouldn’t be able to just not turn up if there wasn’t a good enough excuse.

Thanks for reading!
