How is it mid March already?!
Remember to stay up to date with the world, listen to those facing atrocities and help spread awareness/donate where youโre able to.
It’s been a while since I’ve done a book tag and saw this one that was made by Roisin’s Reading on Youtube – you can check the video out here โฅ I have changed the wording of the questions, but they’re still the same. It’s a similar premise to the Mid Year Check In byย Chamiย andย Ely. I thought it would be fun to have a mini check in~
This tag is actually called the Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag and it made me think about the original name from the Mid Year Check In mentioned above and I wasn’t fully comfortable with the name, so I’ve just taken crisis out.
HOW MANY BOOKS HAVE YOU READ SO FAR?
I’ve read 11 books in 2022 so far and I hope to finish Cemetery Boys by the end of today or tomorrow.
HAVE YOU ALREADY FOUND A BOOK YOU THINK MIGHT BE A 2022 FAVOURITE?
Unfortunately, not yet. There’s a long time left in the year to find some gems, so I’m not worried.
IF NOT, WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK YOU READ THAT WASN’T QUITE FIVE STARS?
I just want to premise that I have given 5โญ to David Baddiel’s Jew Don’t Count. It was very insightful and written in an approachable way. I would highly recommend it!
I’ve given several 4โญ and I think the one that had the most potential to get the full 5 was Cultish by Amanda Montell. The majority of this book is very interesting and Montell litters the narrative with her own experiences and of those around her. The problem was that it goes into the concept of “fitness cults” a lot. It was interesting, especially as I had recently watched the documentary on Bikram (which Montell does discuss) and so was the MLM discourse, but it was a large chunk of the book…
HAVE YOU READ ANY ONE STAR BOOKS? OR WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR LEAST FAVOURITE READ SO FAR?
All the books I’ve read so far have been 3โญ and over and I’ve liked all of them in different ways, so I don’t have a book that I liked the least…
WHAT IS YOUR MOST READ GENRE SO FAR?
I wasn’t expecting this going into 2022, but I’ve read a bit of a mix already so far and the genre I’ve read most is Non-Fiction. And there are a few other non-fiction’s on my radar that I want to read in the coming months as well ๐
WHAT IS A BOOK THAT SURPRISED YOU?
I’ve had Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver on my shelves for around 15yrs and I only just got round to it in January and it was good – a solid 3โญ. I also read Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz which I read in primary school and wasn’t sure I would like now as I don’t really care for spies, but again it was a solid 3โญ and I actually want to continue the Alex Rider series!
IS THERE A BOOK THAT’S COME OUT ALREADY IN 2022 THAT YOU WANT TO READ BUT HAVEN’T YET?
The Red Palace by June Hur is a book I’m so excited to read! A saguek murder mystery that is shrouded in palace politics?! Yes please! I’m currently reading Silence of Bones and plan to read June’s second book next month and then I can finally get to The Red Palace. I know I don’t need to read her books in release date order, but I thought it would be fun to do.
WHAT’S ONE GOAL YOU’RE SUCCEEDING AT?
I only really have two reading goals for 2022:
- read 75 books
- take part in the girlxoxo monthly motif reading challenge
And I’m failing at both of them lol
WHAT’S ONE GOAL YOU NEED TO WORK ON?
Honestly, I need to work on all my goals (including non reading ones) as they aren’t going to plan… as per ๐
The main one is that I keep reading the motif reading challenge book the month after I’m meant to lol
How is your reading going so far this year?
Thanks for reading!
I hope you’re having a lovely day and staying safe โฅ
