I wouldn’t say I was addicted to books, but I may just be in denial ๐
This book tag comes originates from Always Trust In Books and it looks like a lot of fun! So here we go~
What is the longest amount of time you can comfortably go without picking up a book?
This depends on my mood. Normally, I read at least once a day. But when I’m depressed or anxious, it can be days or even weeks before I pick up a book.
I would prefer to read at least for an hour every day simply because reading is such an integral part of my life.
How many books do you carry on your person (or kindle) at any one time?
I tend to always have one book in my bag wherever I go. And I have the Overdrive app on my phone and I tend to always have at least 1 or 2 books out on loan.
Do you keep every book you buy/receive or are you happy to pass them on to make space for more?
I’m okay with getting rid of books, but I tend not to do it very often especially if I’ve read the book… I may have a book hoarding problem haha ^^”
How long would you spend in a bookshop on a standard visit?
On a standard visit, I tend to be in a bookshop for about 30 mins. If I’m with friends or family, the visit is often shorter.
(If it’s the library, a standard visit is often a few hours haha)
How much time per day do you actually spend reading?
Generally, I spend an hour or two reading. I tend to always read a little before I go to bed.
Where does the task โpicking up a bookโ appear on your daily to-do list?
I don’t schedule my reading, so I read whenever I want to and if I can’t I may surreptitiously read on my Overdrive app *cough* in class *cough* ^^”
However, I will always try to read at least a few pages before I sleep.
How many books do you reckon you own in total (including e-books)?
300?… I know that I have around 100 unread books…
I may have to count them when I next re-organise my books~
Approximately how often do you bring up books in conversation?
It depends who I’m talking to… I have like four friends, and only two of them are readers. Sometimes books never come up and sometimes that’s all we talk about!
What is the biggest book (page count) you have finished reading?
The Norton Anthology of Poetry is 2182 pages…
It’s a hefty book and the pages are thin Bible pages! A lot of the poetry is old which can be hard to digest, but there was some lovely poems in there.
Is there a book you had to get your hands on against all odds i.e searching bookshops, online digging etc?
No…ย I’m pretty okay with waiting. And sometimes I’ll wait for the book to come out in paperback as it’s cheaper and the format I prefer.
I did run around Waterstones a few times to find Aurora Rising (Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff), but that was because I couldn’t find out where they’d put it. I would have happily left and come back another day though haha
I’m pretty patient and it’s not like I don’t have other books to fill the void!
A book you struggled to finish but refused to DNF?
At this moment I can only think of a recent book – The Calling (The Darkness Rising #2); Kelley Armstrong – and this book is 326 pages. And it took me a month to read… that was a struggle bus!
I was so disappointed and didn’t like the book but I was adamant in getting it read. Especially as I have the final book in the trilogy.
What are 3 of your main book goals for 2019?
- Get my owned books tbr down by at least half! (I currently have around 90, but I keep buying books to replace them… I hate myself ^^”)
- My Goodreads challenge is to read 100 books
- Finish series/books that I have had for a long time!
Have you ever had the privilege of converting someone into a reader (maybe via inspiration or incessant nagging)?
Not that I know of. In secondary school a lot of my friends loved reading always had done. I got one of my best friends to read my favourite series (Skulduggery Pleasant) and we would share/recommend books.
Describe what books mean to you in five words.
Books are my perfect escape โฅ
I TAG YOU!
(if you want to do this haha ^^”)
Thanks for reading! I hope you are having a lovely day~
Sometimes the struggle is worth it. Often it is not. I tend to give a book a second chance before passing it along.
