Essays or readathon? Bring on the readathon!!
The FantasyAThon is a 10 day readathon from 5th – 15th April.
There are 7 Challenges, but fantasies tend to be a lot longer, so I’m not making any grand plans! The 4 books I’ve chosen could even be a challenge!
There are 1986 pages in total, so if I read around 200 pages a day, I could complete these four books!
Six of Crows – Leigh Bardugo
- Read a diverse fantasy
- Read a hype train fantasy
Six of Crows is a inclusive and diverse read, as well as having so much hype around it! Everyone seems to love it, which is one of the reasons I’m scared to get to it.
And there is a Netflix series happening, so the hype has gained traction again.
The Heart of Betrayal – Mary E. Pearson
- Start OR continue on in a series
This is the second book in the Kiss of Deception Trilogy and I just really need to get to the next one, so this is as good a time as any!
A Court of Wings and Ruin – Sarah J. Maas
- Give a book you set aside a second chance
I’m “Currently Reading” ACOWAR and by that I mean, it’s on my nightstand and I’ve read about 20 pages… I never seem to want to pick it up, so I don’t.
But, the FantasyAThon will make that happen!
The Two Towers – J.R.R. Tolkien
- Read a fantasy in a genre/format you don’t normally (i.e. middle grade/adult/YA or ebook, audio, graphic novel)
I really dislike Tolkien… I’ve read The Hobbit and Fellowship of the Ring. They may be the most boring books I’ve ever slogged through!
But! My dad likes them and I feel like I should at least read them once.
Oh and this is kind of “traditional” old white man adult fantasy that I don’t normally reach for haha
There are 2 more challenges, but every book kind of fits with them.
Read a debut OR backlist fantasy – To be honest, these are all backlist books…. I tend to never read new releases. I don’t like waiting ^^”
Immerse yourself in the novel with a pampering you time block of reading time. Light a candle, take a bath, grab a drink, eat a treat, snuggle with a blanket and lose yourself in the world ♥
a.k.a. how I plan to read most of the time haha~
