February 2019 || Wrap Up πŸ“š

“5 books behind schedule” – Goodreads

Ooh, I did not do well this month! But I really enjoyed the books I did complete, so I’m not too bothered~

Wrap Up

The Paper Magician series – by Charlie N. Holmberg – follows Ceony, an apprentice who is forced into studying the magic of paper. Through this apprenticeship Ceony learns more than she bargained for and finds more excitement than she expected.

The Paper Magician

I love Ceony! She is stubborn, funny, sweet, brave and a great woman to follow. Thane is a sweetheart and a mad one at that so of course I instantly love him!

The events of this book were fun and innovative. It was rather anachronistic in some of the similes/metaphors (of which several are kind of ridiculous haha) but it’s got magic so I don’t care.

The Glass Magician

Despite this book being less innovative – plot wise – and a little slower to get into for me, I really enjoyed the reading experience. Even though these book are only a little over 200 pages each, they are action packed and I’ve become so fond of Ceony and Emery.

I will say there wasn’t enough of the best character, aka Fennel β™₯

The Master Magician

4.5β˜†

To be honest I wasn’t even mad at how rash and dumb Ceony was at times. I think I’m going through character development haha πŸ˜‚

Ceony always has the best intentions and I really do enjoy her as a character. Emery is adorable and I think he would get on so well with Henry Blackwell! πŸ’• We even got to see more of the badass side to him!

I do wish the “villains” were better fleshed out, and I still have a lot of questions.

Currently Reading

I started 3 books in February that I’m still “reading” haha

Divergent

-Veronica Roth

I know I’m so late to the game, but I never got on the hype train for this trilogy. I also had a lot of preconceived notions about the book. However, I’m really enjoying this!

I thought I would find Tris annoying, but I’m on her side for sure! I’m excited to see where this goes!

A Court of Wings and Ruin

-Sarah J. Maas

I’m 8 pages in… I want to read this a lot, but I’m just so intimidated by its size! And I know for a fact that this book does not need to be 700 pages!

No book needs to be 700 bloody pages! haha πŸ˜‚

A Spy in the House

-Y.S. Lee

I’m about 30% of the way through this and it’s a fun little Victorian mystery romp. Mary is a tough little cookie and her escapades are a little ridiculous, but fun!

Hopefully, March is a better reading month.

What books did you read in February?

Thanks for reading! I hope you are having a lovely day~
