How is it already November?!
The first book I was reading going into October, I didn’t finish, which still saddens me!
Fire Study (Poison Study #3) – Maria V. Snyder
DNF: around 30%
I really want to like this book. The beginning of this series was so promising and Poison Study was such a good book. However, the change to Sitia has made me feel so unmotivated to pick up this book. There are characters that I absolutely love that are not present and are replaced by characters I just don’t care about.
This is so disappointing because the world of Sitia is interesting, especially the different magic types, but for some reason this book is just not working with me. I may try and pick it up another time, but for now I’m going to leave it be.
Half-Minute Horrors – Ed. Susan Rich

Some of these tiny snippets of spooky stories were fun, but others were just mediocre or just plain confusing… The premise is super interesting though, and I think this concept would work wonderfully with authors who write for older audiences, as this was a middle-grade read.
I then participated in #Spookathon!Β π»
To see what I thought about the books I read, check out my post! Here’s just the list of what I read/finished:
- Toil & Trouble: 15 Tales of Women and Witchcraft – Ed. Tess Sharpe
- Mottled Dawn: Fifty Sketches and Stories of Partition – Saadat Hasan Manto
- The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer – Michelle Hodkin
- The Kiss of Deception – Mary E. Pearson
- The Last of the Spirits – Chris Priestly
Currently Reading
The Ghost Bride – I’ve only read a couple of chapters and so far I’m not that interested. The culture is wonderful, but the plot is incredibly slow and the writing style is something that I’m trying to get used to. Hopefully, I’m able to get into it more soon!
A Map of Days – I’m working through this book slowly (currently on chapter 3) and just soaking in the wonderful writing and spending time with my peculiar children! β₯
Lethal White – I’m around the 200 page mark, which would be impressive, but this book is around 650 page long haha~ I’m enjoying this, but I just want the characters to work together more. I love this series because of the dynamic of Robin and Cormoran, but they’re relationship is so strained right now *cries*
What did you read in October?
Thanks for reading! I hope you are having a lovely day~
